Loketa Agro-Farm, one of SINA Loketa’s community-based enterprises in Bidibidi Refugee Settlement. The enterprise promotes sustainable agricultural practices, practical farming skills and value addition to local agricultural products, helping refugee and host-community members move beyond subsistence farming towards more productive and commercially oriented livelihoods.
Under his leadership, Loketa Agro-Farm has created employment for more than 20 people, secured land for agricultural production and created opportunities for women and youth to participate in farming, processing and income-generating activities. The enterprise produces and markets simsim and groundnut (g-nut) oils within Bidibidi, turning locally available agricultural products into value-added products and creating new economic opportunities for the community.
In 2026, Loketa Agro-Farm was also selected to participate in Flexi Konnect’s E-Pitch Challenge, giving the enterprise an opportunity to pitch its business, seek growth funding, receive business capacity-building and mentorship support, strengthen its business model, and connect with potential investors and market opportunities.
Mawa’s journey demonstrates how refugee-led enterprises can transform local resources into jobs, income and sustainable livelihoods while contributing to food security and economic resilience in Bidibidi.
